    Excessive sweating and body odor

    Hyperhidrosis

    Sweat secretion is normal condition of the body to control the temperature by automatic transmission through nerve endings. But in some people with hyperhidrosis, the symptoms is usually found at the armpit, palms, soles as well as face and body. If it occur at armpit, this may cause be damp, smell of sweat or strong odor. This condition is particularly common in adolescents. The condition contributes to tremendous inconvenience and uncomfortable, affects work social and psychological which cause a lack of confidence.

    The study found that

    • Approximately 50% occurs at armpit only or together with palms and/or soles.
    • Approximately 29% occurs at only soles and/or together with other points.
    • And approximately 25% occurs at only palms and/or together with other points.

    In normal conditions, you may be perspiring more than usual during such an exercise hot weather, humid weather, eating spicy or hot food, stress, excitement or fever. The cause is still uncertain. This can be caused by stress, anxiety, excitement or disease such as malfunction thyroid gland.
    How is Hyperhidrosis happened? Is there any risk factors?

    • Correlation with genetic, patients from family with this condition is up to approximately 30-65%. This condition can also be found in people with certain genetic disorders for approximately 25% but in people with normal gene, this condition is found only about 1%.
    • Obesity, the thicker subcutaneous fat layer result in poor body cooling. Thus there is a need to increase cooling out through sweat.
    • The lack of female hormones during menopause or post-menopausal syndrome.
    • Hyperthyroidism or Thyrotoxicosis.
    • Diabetes Mellitus, abnormalities in the body use of energy and chronic inflammation of various tissues.
    • Infections that result in prolonged fever such as malaria and tuberculosis.
    • Chronic heart failure, since the body requires more energy to pump blood enough throughout the body, body heat is thus higher which must be eliminated by increasing sweating condition.
    • Side effects of certain drugs such as painkillers (Such as paracetamol or medicines containing morphine) hypertension medicine, diabetes medicine and psychiatric medicine.
    • Some types of cancer such as Lymphatic cancer. In cancer patients, unusual sweating all over the body usually occurs at night.

    Is Hyperhidrosis serious? Is there any side effects?

    1. Use sweating reduction substances containing aluminium Hyperhidrosis is usually not severe or fatal. However, it results in decline quality of life, especially in socialize, from the damp and smells such as armpit odor, foot odor and etc. Additionally, wet skin will infect fungal, bacteria and rashes easily.
      How to treat Hyperhidrosis?chloride in form of Roll-On, Cream or spray but may decrease slightly sweat and requires frequent use. In some cases, it may cause irritation to skin and darken armpits.
    2. Iontophoresis that transmit mild electrical current into subcutaneous to reduce perspiration. This treatment is not permanent. It must be repeated several times so it's not popular.
    3. Sweat gland surgery. With this surgery, sweat glands will be peeled away or the nerves that control sweat gland will be disconnected to decrease its response. However, the surgery is often unpopular due to the potential side effects including scars. There will be a small incision around 1 to 2 centimeters or that may have been infected in some cases.
    4. There is now Dermal modulation By injecting Botox (Botox or Botulinum toxin) Which will reduce the function of autonomous nervous and Thereby reduce sweating. In addition to reduce wrinkles and make skin firm and youthful, Botox can overcome sweating disorders especially in underarm area that makes you lose confidence. Botox will block the secretion of substances that stimulate the sweat. The treatment takes just 10 minutes, after that Botox will control the sweat for the next 7-8 months. Then you can wear beautiful dress confidently.
